STORY OF THE ESPRESSO MACHINE
Just to clarify, the machine most of us are familiar with sit on a stovetop, but that's powered by fire too. Take the Corona Carnot challenge: DIY musical moka pot--this one plays the Italian anthem but it could be tweaked to play anything..can you do it? (Interestingly, the addition of the music mechanism raises the unit price by about $40.)

recommend this lecture which also touches on how the scientific spin on things which gained increasing ground in the second half of the second millenium, while it ridiculed religion and belief, elevated science to the status of "legend" or "god" as if the scientists were all priests and their accomplishments mystical. (for Christians, Jesus warned a French nun that the bloody French revolution was coming if the kings didn't listen....well, to quote Don McLean, they were not listening, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now. That's why here at Engelblau our motto is: LISTEN!) The video is in French but Carnot also wrote in French so it's on point in that sense.
